Services Offered
Individual counseling sessions for adults are scheduled at set appointment times on a weekly or biweekly basis. Standard sessions are 55 minutes. Our first few sessions will be focused on understanding your current symptoms, needs, and counseling goals. You may be asked to complete screenings or assessments to clarify your symptoms, and we will then collaborate to create your treatment plan. Telehealth sessions are available upon request.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is offered as a part of ongoing counseling, or as a stand-alone service. Its structured 8-phase process is different than traditional talk therapy. Our initial EMDR session will consist of a thorough assessment of your current life circumstances and coping resources to determine whether this is the right time for you to begin EMDR therapy. EMDR is offered in person or via telehealth.
Sessions with a Partner or Family Member
Sessions with a partner, spouse, adolescent or adult child, or other family member, can be a beneficial aspect of your treatment. Topics to work on together in counseling could include gridlocked relationship issues, past conflicts that are not resolved, infidelity, grieving a loss, a new health diagnosis, an upcoming life transition, or to learn better ways to communicate to have a more fulfilling relationship. These sessions can be scheduled either in person or via telehealth for individuals in Virginia.

Prospective Clients
Feeling comfortable with your counselor, and having your questions about the therapy process answered, are essential to a successful start in counseling. Also, it is important for your counselor to get an idea of what you are coming to counseling for at this time, to be sure they are the best fit for your needs.
A complimentary 15-minute phone consultation is the first step for potential new clients, so that we can discuss your needs and whether the services I offer may be the right fit for you. There are certain mental health conditions that are best suited for specialty treatment (such as eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), substance abuse, personality disorders, and otherwise); referrals to qualified providers are available if you need services in a specialty area outside my scope of practice.
Providing culturally-sensitive care respectful of diverse intersectional identities.
