The Heart of Cara Holistic Counseling
Get to know the meaning behind our name and symbol
The name Cara Holistic Counseling was inspired by the Gaelic term "Anam Cara" which describes someone who listens without judgment, supports without conditions, and accompanies you on your path towards self-discovery and inner peace - as a counselor strives to do. Throughout life, an Anam Cara may be a partner, friend, family member, spiritual teacher, or trusted guide during a time of transition or need.
If you're in need of extra support or guidance during this time of life, a counselor can fill this special role which emphasizes the importance of authentic connection and companionship on the journey of life. While friends and family can be helpful supports, the consistent safety and acceptance provided in the professional counseling relationship can serve as a powerful catalyst for healing, clarity, and growth.

The Symbol That Holds This Space

The symbol at the heart of the practice is a trefoil...
three soft, interwoven arcs that move in and out of one another
like breath, like relationship, like the unfolding of a life.

It rises from the same sacred geometry as the Vesica Piscis,
the ancient shape formed when two circles meet
and create a tender space of becoming.
Where two truths touch, something new is born.
Where three interlace, a whole story can finally exhale.

I chose this symbol because healing is not linear.
It is a weaving -
of mind, body, and spirit;
of past and present;
of the parts of you that learned to survive
and the parts of you longing to live.
The trefoil holds all of these with grace.
Its loops never break.
Its lines never collapse into one another.
Each curve honors its own shape
while still belonging to the whole.

This is what therapy can represent:
a sacred meeting place
where your inner wisdom, your lived experience,
and our shared work come together -
not to erase what has been,
but to integrate it into something steady, grounded, and true.
