Insurance and Sliding Scale
Cara Holistic Counseling, LLC does not participate with insurance panels in order to keep counseling treatment focused on your best interests and not limited by insurance restrictions. For clients interested in using out-of-network benefits for mental health counseling, a monthly superbill will be provided itemizing the services you received, which can be submitted to your insurance for reimbursement. If you plan to seek reimbursement from your insurance provider, please contact them before beginning counseling to understand the amount they are willing to reimburse for mental health counseling. There are apps such as Reimbursify that can help streamline the process of submitting claims to your insurance. Submitting claims for reimbursement can lower your session fee by a significant amount. Be sure to ask your insurance company:

-
What percentage does my plan reimburse for out of network behavioral health care?
-
What is my deductible?
-
Does the insurance have an "allowable amount" (a cap on therapy session fees) for behavioral health care?
A limited number of sliding scale openings are available for clients who cannot afford the full session fee; please inquire if you may be eligible.

Counseling is available for individuals located in Virginia, both in person and via telehealth.
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for their services. Cara Holistic Counseling, LLC will provide you with this estimate during the new client intake process.
-
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services.
-
Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your service. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.
-
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
-
Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 800-985-3059.
